We have been helping new businesses set up for over 20 years and there are literally 1000's of businesses that have benefited from our experience and personalised ceramic/pottery business advice.

This course has been purposely condensed into a one day, jam-packed, low-cost "must-have".  It is a great starting block / foundation for potential new business owners or anyone considering starting their own business.  What is more, if you buy your kiln through us we refund the cost of the course (up to 2 delegates) and deduct the course fee(s) off your kiln purchase thereby MAKING TRAINING FREE.  After all, it is in our interest to make sure you are successful.

The day's training is an informative and informal day in a relaxed atmosphere with no hard-sell.  It is business based, not product based.  We continually receive positive feedback about this course - "perfectly pitched and perfectly priced for the novice or partially experienced business owner". 

At Country Love Crafts we recognise that every business model is different - some budding entrepreneurs simply want to do "paint your own pottery" (PYOP); some want to sell decorated ceramics.  Equally, some customers want to add pottery painting to their existing business model and some want to sell other products alongside pottery painting.  Not only this, every start-up budget is different.  We supply course notes, "start-up check lists" (because you won't know what tools and stock you need to order) and lots of genuine information.  Delegates should leave this course with enough basic knowledge to progress their dream of starting a pottery painting and craft business.

Morning Agenda

• Skills required to run your own "paint it yourself pottery" business.
• Business styles (mobile or studio, formal or informal) including advantages/disadvantages and considerations for each style.
• Studio Fees - whether or not to charge a studio fee.
• Considerations when choosing your business name, creating a business plan and insurance types.
• Financial planning and financial decision making.
• How to price for profit.
• Other specific business requirements (e.g. health & safety, licences, employment, payroll, consumer rights, insurances, accounts, planning classifications, disclaimers, stock levels and margins etc)
• Sales and marketing (FREE resources, social media, top tips).
• Selling tips (pricing structures, target audiences, competitors etc).
• Stock selection & advice.
• Support.
• First order stock check-list - a start-up check list to help you with your first order.

Afternoon Agenda

The afternoon session is a practical one and involves learning the basics of decorating (delegates paint their own mug), basic glazing and kiln management.

Cost: The course is costs £50 + VAT and includes a £50 voucher off the cost of a pottery/ceramics kiln (up to 2 vouchers can be used per kiln purchase).
